I’m Amanda Owen!

Hi there! I’m Dr. Amanda Owen, PhD in Botany and Horticultural Science, and I’m thrilled to be a part of the Planting and Seeding community. My journey with plants began over two decades ago, and it’s been an incredible adventure ever since. Growing up in a small countryside village, I was surrounded by lush gardens and sprawling fields. My earliest memories are filled with the scent of blooming flowers and the sight of vibrant greenery.

My grandmother, a passionate gardener herself, was my first mentor. She taught me the basics of planting, nurturing, and the sheer joy that comes from watching something grow. Those childhood days spent in her garden ignited a lifelong passion within me.

After completing my studies in botany and horticulture, I spent several years working in various botanical gardens and nurseries. These experiences deepened my knowledge and allowed me to experiment with a wide variety of plants, from delicate orchids to robust vegetable crops. I also had the opportunity to travel and learn from some of the best gardeners and botanists around the world, further enriching my understanding and appreciation of plant life.

A Passionate Gardener and Plant Enthusiast…

For the past fifteen years, I’ve dedicated myself to helping others cultivate their own green spaces. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or a complete novice, my goal is to provide you with practical advice, inspiration, and support. I believe that anyone can develop a green thumb with the right guidance and a bit of patience.

Writing for Planting and Seeding has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Here, I get to share my love for plants and gardening with a wonderful community of like-minded enthusiasts. From seed selection to pest control, and from soil health to the art of pruning, I cover a wide range of topics to help you create the garden of your dreams.

Finding Peace and Joy: Amanda Owen’s Journey with Nature and Gardening

When I’m not writing or tending to my own garden, you can find me exploring nature trails, visiting botanical gardens, or curled up with a good book on plant science. My garden is my sanctuary, a place where I find peace and joy, and I hope to inspire you to create your own green haven.

Thank you for joining me on this green journey. Let’s grow together!

Warm regards,
Amanda Owen
